We’re pioneering a new way of working that seeks to erase the barrier between company and community.

Six months, four stages, one phone. Across this time we have collected over 1,000 entries from 47 countries, for the design of the ultimate version of Phone (2a) Plus. Spanning hardware, wallpapers, packaging and marketing, winners at each stage got the chance to engage directly with the Nothing Team as they brought their creations to life.
Create a new edition of Phone (2a) Plus’ iconic hardware.
Design a series of wallpapers that seamlessly integrate with the chosen hardware design.
Craft a special unboxing experience that ties together hardware and wallpaper design.

The Community Edition Project was developed on Phone (2a) Plus. With just 1,000 units produced, it is our rarest device to date. The phone will be available on a first come, first served basis where community members who participated in the project will be given priority.
Look at it glow. Using green-tinted phosphorescent material finishes, elements of the back of the phone emit a soft glow in the dark. Like fireflies, the glowing feature can also be functional. Allowing you to locate your phone in the dark or indicate your presence.
The six wallpapers interpret community connections as machine connectors, opening a world of cables, pipes, microchips and components. All of which are encapsulated within a transparent shell, offering a glimpse into this complex but wonderful community.
The packaging originates from an exploration of Nothing’s design language. It depicts a 3D interpretation of the phone glowing in the dark, focusing on texturing and beautiful details, elegantly incorporating reflective elements.
The creative platform focuses on the idea of finding your own source of inspiration and clarity. The firefly and the illuminated path represent the ability to shine and stand out, even in darkness. The final slogan “community spirit” echoes the idea that leaning on others can help illuminate your individual spark.
